1936 – 2016
PORTLAND — Betty Mae Begin, 79, of Saco died Monday, Feb. 22, at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
She was born June 12, 1936, in Farmington, a daughter of Allison and Barbara Christine (Yeaton) Seamon and was educated there. On Sept. 17, 1964, she married Wilfred A. Begin Sr. in Wilton.
Betty had been employed at various shoe manufacturing facilities such as Livermore Shoe, Bruce Shoe and Herman Shoe. She then went on to own and operate Betty’s Seafood Take-out. Her favorite was being an “Avon Lady,” which she did for 22 years and loved all of her customers.
Betty enjoyed many activities such as motorcycle rides with Wilfred, boat rides on Ossipee Lake, traveling with her family and attending her great-grandson’s sporting events. She loved following the Red Sox, Patriots and NASCAR racing, baking cakes, crocheting and spending time with her pets.
Betty is survived by her sons, Kevin James and his fiancée, Jessica Mercier, of Saco, and George Begin and his partner, Peter LaMarche, of Saco; her daughters, Ruth Cote and her partner, Phil Labbe, of Arundel, and Virginia “Jenny” Rackliffe and her partner, Mike, of Poland; her stepsons, Wilfred M. Begin and his wife, Nancy, of Auburn, and Wilfred A. Begin Jr. of New Hampshire, and their families; her grandchildren: Christine and Terry Merrill and their son, Matthew, of Saco; Rae Cote of New Orleans, La.; Miah James and her fiancé, Andrew Auble, and their children, Alissa, Andrew and Alex of Saco; Beth and Lance McKay and their children, Dominic, Lance Jr., and Kolton; Christopher Boisvert and his fiancée, Sarah McDermott, and their son, Julian of Biddeford; her sisters, Barbara Seamon of Farmington, Martha Griswold of Skowhegan, and Della Wetmore and her husband, Staley, of Farmington; her brother, Allen Seamon and his wife, Judith, of Farmington; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Allison Seamon and Barbara Yeaton-Seamon; her husband, Wilfred A. Begin Sr.; her son, Allen James; her stepson, Robert Begin; her sister, Julia Seamon-Estes; and her brother, Floyd Seamon.
