1938 – 2016

WAYNE — Royal N. Waitt, 77, of Walton Road, Wayne, died on Friday, Feb. 26, at his home.

He was born in Lewiston on Aug. 20, 1938, the son of Henry and Viola (Davenport) Waitt.

Royal graduated from Kents Hill High School and later from Nichols College in Massachusetts.

He owned and operated his own sawmill in Wayne before going to work for International Paper, where he worked for more than 30 years, until his retirement.

In his earlier years at college, Royal played hockey. He also enjoyed camping and saltwater fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Regina Waitt of Wayne; two sons, Michael Waitt of Wilson, N.C., and Patrick Waitt and his partner, Chantelle, of Wales; two grandchildren, Nicholas Waitt and Megan Jones; a great-granddaughter, Macy Jones; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Henry and Duncan Waitt.
