Art scholarship seeking applications

LIBERTY — Liberty Graphics is accepting submissions for its 19th annual $1,000 art scholarship. All high school seniors living in Maine may submit original works that reflect the theme of “Art and our Natural Environment.”

Entries must be traditional two-dimensional media and must be postmarked by Monday, March 14. Photography, sculpture and computer-generated works cannot be considered.

Entry forms are available by contacting school art teachers via the company’s website. The winner will be announced in early April, and art will be returned in late April. Each student may submit more than one piece of work.

The award is intended to aid and encourage students in the pursuit of their artistic experiences and learning.

Self-care wellness class planned

LEWISTON — The Center for Wisdom’s Women will hold a wellness class for women on the subject of self-care.

“Imagine a Women in Love with Herself” is set for 10 a.m. Thursday, March 3. 

Retired educators to meet

LEWISTON — The Androscoggin Retired Educators Association will meet Wednesday, March 9, at the Ramada Inn.

The cost of the meal is $11, and the guest speaker will be Josh Kosinski, the director of Public Relations and Political Action for the Maine Education Association.

Checks may be mailed to Crystal Ward, 171 Montello St., by Thursday, March 3. As always, all retired educators are invited to join AREA at any time for a $10 fee.

The association requests that members bring canned goods for the donation to a local food pantry.

Grange to host bean supper

DANVILLE — The Danville Junction Grange No. 65 will host a public bean supper at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 5.

The menu will include baked beans and many different casseroles with homemade pie for dessert. 

Admission will be $8 for adults and $4 for children younger than 12.

IHM Golden Age Club to meet

AUBURN — The IHM Golden Age Club will meet at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, at Sacred Heart Church.

There will be an Irish boiled dinner and ice cream sundaes. Cost is $6.

Reservations are due by March 6. New members are always welcome.
