LEWISTON — Maine Romance Writers will present “How To Build Your Author Network Before You Get The Call” by Marianne Rice at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, in Room 103 at the University of Southern Maine Lewiston-Auburn College, 51 Westminster St.

This interactive workshop will teach participants how they can start marketing their name before they get “the call.” From website building to blogging to social media, attendees will learn how to make connections and build relationships with authors and readers. The goal is so when authors get the call, they’ll have a network of followers, a website, a successful blog and a connection with their followers who can help jump-start their career. Rice writes contemporary romance novels set in small New England towns.

The formal meeting is followed by an informal bring-your-own bag lunch social for a discussion about writing. The speaker will begin at 1 p.m.

The Maine Romance Writers, a nonprofit statewide organization dedicated to supporting romance writers, meets monthly. Nonmember guests are welcome and encouraged to attend all or part of the meeting. First-time guests are welcome to attend free of charge, but will be assessed a $5 program fee for subsequent visits. Anyone interested in writing fiction is welcome to attend.
