TURNER — SAD 52 Adult and Community Education, 486 Turner Center Road, has announced its upcoming April enrichment classes.

Conversational Spanish Session 2: Mondays beginning April 4. Students will master the basics with focus on everyday conversation, pronunciation and useful vocabulary. This class is for students who have taken Spanish before and would like to refresh their skills.

Zumba Fitness for YOU Session 2: Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning April 5. Tuesday classes will feature a mix of Latin and other rhythms and include elements of cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility. Zumba Toning on Thursday will help build strength and tone target areas. All fitness levels are welcome, and moves are easily modified to meet individual needs.

Nine Phases of Qi: Thursday, April 5. Participants will have the opportunity to strengthen their bodies and enhance the nervous system, releasing unhealthy thought patterns and discovering the true essence of spirit.

Rumba for Beginners Session 2: Thursdays beginning April 5. This is a slow Latin dance that originated in Cuba. Dancers will feel the romance as they sway and learn the basic steps. Singles and couples are welcome.

Substitute Teacher Training: Thursday, April 5. Participants will learn about school expectations, teachers’ lesson plans and classroom management. This course is one step in the substitute teacher application process for the district. A high school diploma is required; college degree preferred.

Resin Pendant: Friday, April 6. Participants will produce a one-of-a-kind silver bezel pendant by using the instructor’s patterned paper and resin or by using their own laser copy photos or memorabilia to create a very unique pendant.

Brick, Block & Stone: Fridays beginning April 6. Participants will learn a new skill in basic masonry by understanding plumbing level and range and learning different bonds and mortar mixes while building small stone walls and archways. Projects will be based on interest.

Grow Your Own Organic Garden: Friday, April 6. This course will teach the basics of soil science and how to enrich soil to produce healthy plants. Making and using compost and principles of crop rotation will also be covered. Students will discover how to tell the difference between plants and weeds, basic weed control strategies, common insect pests and methods of control.

The Art of Creative Watercolor: Mondays beginning April 11 to May 2. Students will learn to paint sunsets, clouds, water reflections, mountains, rocks, trees and more. They’ll learn ways to mix paints to control color. The course is designed for beginners to semi-professionals. 

Watercolor Paint Night: Tuesday, April 12. Participants will receive step-by-step instructions to complete a 5- by 7-inch painting. All supplies are included, and no experience is necessary.

Reiki I: Tuesday, April 12. Reiki is an ancient healing art that channels energy through the hands to promote healing. Participants will learn hands-on methods for self-healing and receive a first degree.

The ‘Wizard of Oz’ Bus Trip: Saturday, April 16. Participants will travel to Boston to see the matinee at The Wang Center.
