BRUNSWICK – A production of “Young Tom Edison” will begin the Theatre for Young Audiences series at Maine State Music Theatre.

The musical begins in 1929 when hundreds of people are gathered in Dearborn, Mich., to honor Thomas Alva Edison on the 50th anniversary of his inventing the light bulb.

It then traces his journey from a young boy labeled “addled” to a tireless inventor with visions that changed people’s lives.

“Young Tom Edison” is built and performed by the theater’s intern company. It is directed by Joyce A. Presutti, the intern director.

Performances Wednesday, June 16, will be at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Orchestra, grand tier and box seats are $10; balcony and super-saver tickets are $6.

Tickets are available at the box office at Pickard Theatre from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. People may also call (207) 725-8769; or go online to www.mwmt.org.
