TUESDAY, April 19

LEWISTON — City Council workshop and regular meeting in the City Council Chambers on the bottom floor of City Hall. The workshop begins at 5:30 p.m. and the topic is the proposed 2016-17 school budget and general discussion with the School Committee. A closed-door executive session is scheduled for 6 p.m. The regular meeting begins at 7 p.m. and topics include downtown canals, a four-dog limit in the city, an ash-for-trash deal with Mid-Maine Waste Action Corp., and budget recommendations from the Finance Committee.

THURSDAY, April 21

LEWISTON — Great Falls Forum, noon to 1 p.m., Callahan Hall in Lewiston Public Library. Maxwell Chicuta will present “Making Maine Communities Livable and Safe.” Chicuta is Portland’s Community Development Block Grant board chairperson. The talk is free; bring a bag lunch.

LEWISTON — Immigrant talk, Lewiston Public Library, 2 to 4 p.m. U.S. immigration services officers will present a free session for individuals with questions about the immigration process. Drop-ins welcome, no appointment necessary.

AUBURN — Waste/recycling talk, 5:30 p.m., Community Room on the second floor of Auburn Hall. Joseph E. Kazar, executive director of Mid-Maine Waste Action Corp., will report on recycling and solid waste in the city.

FRIDAY, April 22

AUBURN — Space exhibit, Auburn Public Library, 3-6 p.m. A new, national, traveling exhibit offers an inside look at NASA, America’s space agency. Exhibit covers six key areas: human exploration, Earth science, Mars exploration, solar system and beyond, aeronautics and technology. Multimedia experiences include near-real-time kiosk called Eyes on Exoplanets and an immersive experience of astronauts living on the International Space Station. The exhibition continues into July.
