PARIS — The first meeting of the Paris Cape Historical Society for 2016 will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 19, in its new addition at 77 High St.
The public is invited to attend and view the new meeting room.
After a brief business meeting Rodney Abbott, a local history teacher who lives in West Paris, will speak on the subject “Why Is It Important to Remember History?”
Abbott has taught history and English in many local high schools, including Buckfield, Livermore Falls and Telstar in Bethel, where he taught from 1971 to 2001. He has also taught history at the University of Maine at Augusta, South Paris, Rumford/Mexico and Lewiston. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in U.S. History from the University of Maine in Orono, and his Master of Education degree from the University of Southern Maine.
Refreshments will be served following the meeting.
Dedication of the addition will be held June 4 and the public is welcome.
