I write to congratulate Rep. Heidi Brooks on passing a new law to help local pharmacies. The legislation will close loopholes that generate massive profits for large national corporations on the backs of small Maine pharmacies, such as Bedard’s in Lewiston, and their customers.

It is a complicated issue that required hard work and dedication to find a solution. Rep. Brooks demonstrated both in her efforts to shepherd the bill through the process of becoming law. As the House chair of the Insurance and Financial Services Committee, I witnessed her work with local experts and colleagues on the committee and in the Legislature to foster the support needed to get the job done.

Rep. Brooks has served the city of Lewiston with distinction during her first term in the House and it has been an honor to work with her in Augusta.
