Yard, bake sale planned in Canton

CANTON — A benefit yard and bake sale for the Outreach Program at Canton United Baptist Church will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at 5 Staples Hill Road. 

The rain date is Sunday, May 22.

Hamburgers and hot dogs will be for sale with the baked goods. Payment will be accepted in cash.

Indoor sale in Fryeburg

FRYEBURG — The Seton Society of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church will hold an indoor yard and craft sale from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 21, at 857 Main St.

Table rentals cost $10.

New Sharon library Story Time

NEW SHARON — The Jim Ditzler Memorial Library will offer stories, crafts and snacks during Story Times from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 21.

Historical Societies annual plant sale

MEXICO — The Mexico and Rumford Historical Societies’ annual plant sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 21 and 22, at the parking lot of Riverside Realty, 152 River Road.

Plants for sale will include perennials from members’ gardens and the usual selection of annuals from the greenhouse of Nghia Ha and David Gawtry.

A table of baked goods prepared by members of the Mexico Society will be available for purchase.

Silent auction benefiting Boxberry School

HARRISON — Boxberry School’s eighth annual Silent Auction and Spring Social is set for 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at Camp Fernwood Cove. 

Attendees will bid on a wide variety of silent auction items including overnight stays, handmade items and gift certificates at local vendors.

Admission costs $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Tickets are available at Books ‘N Things on Main Street in Norway.

Texas hold’em May 21

LOCKE MILLES — American Legion Jackson-Silver Post 68 will host a Texas hold’em poker tournament Saturday, May 21, at 595 Gore Road.

Doors will open at 11 a.m., and games begin at noon. There is a $50 buy-in, a $5 license and a high hand option.

Bird walk planned in Rangeley

RANGELEY — A free spring bird walk open to the public will take place at 7 a.m. Saturday, May 21, on Mingo Springs Trail.

Nature photographer Nick Leadley with John Bicknell will guide the 2-mile walk. Birders may bring binoculars, cameras and bird books. 

The trailhead is at the maintenance building on the Mingo Springs Golf Course, and parking is available there.
