1936 – 2016

TURNER — George Sidney Lilley of South Paris passed away suddenly on May 14.

Born Dec. 28, 1936, in Aroostook County, to Burns and Rose (Hafford) Lilley, Sid joined the U.S. Army at the age of 18 during the Korean War and was honored to be a veteran.

In 1957, Sid married Patricia Faye Foster and together they settled down to have a family. In 1970, their family moved to Turner and Sid went to work for A.J. DeCoster, where he worked until his retirement in 2010.

Sid loved to tell jokes, tease people and make his friends laugh — his infectious giggle and his huge dimpled grin will be missed. Sid spent his free time picking berries and fiddleheads, and going to every lawn sale he could find.

Sid is survived by his sons and daughters, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Fred and wife, Sylvia (Nookie) Lilley; and his sisters, Addie Russell and Alice McMannus.

He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Patricia; brothers and sisters; his great-grandson, Erik; and his loyal canine companion and best friend, Comet.

Sid’s family would like to thank the Maine Veterans’ Home in South Paris for taking care of Sid — to all of the veterans whom he was proud to call friends, and the staff members he frequently referred to as his “angels.”

Online condolences may be shared with his family at www.chandlerfunerals.com.
