The Auburn lawyers defeated their brethren in the profession in Lewiston Friday afternoon on the Auburn park. The score was 17 to 6 but from that is should not be thought for a moment the game was so very one-sided. Although the winners were in the lead the greater part of the time, things were exciting all of the time. Not such a large number of errors were made as have been seen in some games while the sensational plays were numerous. Earned runs, Auburn, 5, Lewiston, 1. Two base hits, Brann, Watson. Umpire, Briggs.

A Norwich, Conn., woman feels Lewiston “is fortunate to have honest men in Government.”

Her appraisal of Lewiston city officials is the result of correspondence recently exchanged between the woman, Mrs. Alice Dunn, of Norwich, and Lewiston City Clerk, Lucien Lebel.

Mrs. Dunn recently wrote Lebel asking for vital statistics involving relatives. In the letter she enclosed a money order for $1, which she had assumed was the usual fee for such information.

Lebel returned the information to Mrs. Dunn, and sent the money order along, too.

This week, the woman wrote Clerk Lebel, thanking him for his cooperation and the return of the money order. She said a $1 fee is assessed when such information is desired from her home town.

And she added: “x x x I am more than pleased to find a honest city clerk. That is something you do not find in Governmental offices today. Lewiston is fortunate to have honest men in office.”
