1939 – 2016

SARASOTA, Fla. — Harry S. Stanton, 76, of New Gloucester passed away Tuesday, May 31.

He was born June 28, 1939, in New York, the son of John and Margaret (Collins) Stanton.

Harry was a member of the Woolwich Wiscasset Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading and spending time with family.

He worked for 25 years in textiles. He started at the Worumbo Mill in Lisbon Falls, then Massachusetts, North Carolina and back to Maine; 15 years with New Tribes Mission serving in Indonesia and home staff in Wisconsin and Florida; seven years at the L.L. Bean factory store; and retired at age 67 due to health issues.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters, Susan L. Look and husband, Alan, of Richmond, Debra E. Twitchell and husband, Arnold, of South Paris, Pamela J. Robison and husband, Dale, of Livermore; sons, Harry S. Stanton and wife, Kim, of Alabama, and Peter J. Stanton and wife, Suzanne, of Bowdoinham; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, John D. Stanton and wife, Nancy, of Windham, Timothy R. Wing and wife, Merri Jane, of Raymond, and Roger Wing.

Harry was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, David L. Wing of New Gloucester.
