AUBURN — Sophomore short stop Mack Pelletier had a walk-off single to center field as St. Dom’s edged Hall-Dale 3-2 in quarterfinal baseball action Thursday afternoon.
The Saints (16-2) were trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning with the bases loaded and Pelletier at the plate with a 3-2 count. Pelletier plated Gavin Bates and Justin Keaney to send St. Dom’s to the semifinals.
Senior pitcher Ryan Sinclair produced a double and gave up just four hits for the Bulldogs (13-5). Cole Lockhart had an RBI single in the first inning for Hall-Dale.
Lisbon 3, Madison 0
MADISON — Pitcher Tyler Halls and Lucas Francis had two hits each as Lisbon battled to a 3-0 victory over Madison in baseball action Thursday.
Halls pitched all seven innings, giving up just one hit and striking out eight. Halls scored two of the Greyhound’s three runs.
Chase Malloy had the only Bulldog (14-3) hit with two outs in the third inning.
Maranacook 8, Leavitt 1
READFIELD — Maranacook took advantage of three Leavitt miscues in a five-run fifth inning to win 8-1 and moved on to the Class B South tournament in baseball action Thursday afternoon.
Mark Buzzell went 4-for-4 and drove in three runs for the Black Bears. Avery Beckwth and Jared Beckwith combined in pitching duties for Maranacook.
Pitcher Julian Kirouac took the loss for the Hornets. Zac Dymond drove in the lone Leavitt run.
Softball
Yarmouth 8, Leavitt 2
YARMOUTH — Senior third baseman Hannah Merrill stroked three hits, including a triple, as Yarmouth notched an 8-2 victory over Leavitt in softball action Thursday afternoon.
The game was deadlocked at 2-2 over the middle innings until the floodgates opened in the bottom of the sixth. The Hornets (11-7) uncharacteristically committed four errors as the Clippers (15-3) rattled off six runs in the frame.
Colleen Sullivan had a pair of hits, including a home run for Yarmouth.
Ashley Kelley and Kaitlyn DeBlois each had an RBI single in the top of the first inning to put Leavitt up 2-0 early.
Buckfield 5, Temple 2
BUCKFIELD — With the Buckfield Bucks leading 3-2 in the sixth inning, Abby Shields belted a double that added two insurance runs in their 5-2 victory over Temple in a Class D South quarterfinal game.
Shields also had a single earlier in the game.
Julia Dow had nine strikeouts in the victory as she went the distance for the Bucks (14-3).
Kali Litchfield had a pair of singles in the victory. Buckfield jumped out to a 3-0 lead, scoring two in the first and one in the second. Temple picked up its runs in the third and sixth innings.
Telstar 5, Monmouth 3
BETHEL — Telstar made do with four hits and was fortunate to receive solid pitching from Olivia York as the No. 2 Rebels squeezed past No. 7 Monmouth Academy with a 5-3 victory in a Class C South quarterfinal softball game Thursday.
The Rebels (15-2) go on to host No. 6 Lisbon on Saturday in the semifinals.
York struck out eight batters despite giving up 10 Monmouth hits.
The Rebels were behind 3-2 when they picked up three runs in the fifth inning. Natasha Hart drove in two runs with her two-out single.. Telstar catcher Blair Stevens threw out a Monmouth runner at second for a key out.
There were other Telstar heroics, too.
In the third inning, center fielder Hayley Peterson threw out a Mustang runner heading for home and Becca Howard launched a one-run triple in the first inning to help give the Rebels a 2-0 lead.
For the Mustangs (8-9), Hannah Anderson had four hits, including a double, and drove in two runs. Losing pitcher Katie Canning and teammate Emily Chase each had two hits for the Mustangs.
Lisbon 8, Carrabec 4
NORTH ANSON — The Lisbon Greyhounds had two big innings in their 8-4 victory over the Carrabec Cobras in a Class C South quarterfinal game.
They scored three times in the second and four times in the fourth.
Kate Philbrick had a two-run double in the second for the Greyhounds (11-6), while Jasmin Le and Ally Sult each had a double in the win. Mallory Fairbanks also had two RBIs in the win.
Bailey Dunphy had two hits for Carrabec, including a double. Paige Chadbourne had a pair a singles, while Baylee Atwood drove in one run on two singles.
Girls’ lacrosse
Lewiston 6, Windham 4
WINDHAM — Christine Chasse netted four goals to lead Lewiston to a 6-4 victory over Windham to advance to the North Regional Championship game.
The Blue Devils (10-4) led the entire game. Kristina Blais had a goal and two assists.
Goalie Monica Field made eight saves for Lewiston. Morgan Eliasen, Sasha Leclair and Dacia Bail played well on defense.
Julie Jones had three goals for the Eagles.
