AUGUSTA — The Maranacook String Band will perform from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, at The Red Barn restaurant, 455 Riverside Drive.
The event is free and open to the public.
The Maranacook String Band is a popular bluegrass band that began as a project at Maranacook Community High School in Readfield under the leadership of teacher Stan Keach.
Now the band is professional, with a six-year history of concerts throughout central Maine.
The band features lead and harmony vocals of Julie Davenport and Dana Reynolds; the virtuoso instrumental styles of Bud Godsoe (banjo), Dan Simons (mandolin) and Finn Woodruff (fiddle); and many original songs about Maine topics with plenty of humor.
Members’ ages range from 14 to seniors.
“That’s a big part of our appeal, I think,” said Keach. “We’re geared up to please any audience, no matter what their age range or musical taste.”
