FARMINGTON — A Franklin County justice sentenced Daniel J. Leet of Lewiston Wednesday to serve 45 months of a 13-year prison sentence for robbing a 75-year-old Jay man in June 2015.

Justice William Stokes also sentenced Leet to 45 months on a theft charge and 364 days on a misdemeanor criminal restraint charge. Both sentences will be served at the same time as the robbery sentence.

Leet, 34, pleaded guilty to the charges on June 8.

After his release from prison, Leet will serve four years of probation.

Probation conditions include no contact with the victim, Wallace Williams, no use or possession of illegal drugs or alcohol, and no use of weapons including firearms.

Leet and co-defendant Eric Hafford, formerly of Livermore Falls, pried open the front door of the Jay residence to gain entry at about 11:30 p.m. June 28, 2015. The two, wearing masks, woke Wallace up and bound his hands behind his back with packing tape. They then made him lie face down on his bed while they stole valuable coins from a collection, his wallet that contained his debit card, and a cellphone, according to state evidence.

The two men used the debit card and cashed in coins in the Auburn-Lewiston area.

Hafford, 35, is serving six years of a 15-year sentence related to the incident.

A third suspect, Amanda Cote, 39, of Livermore Falls is accused of driving the getaway vehicle and helping plan the robbery, according to Jay police.

She is scheduled to go on trial at the end of the month.

Leet was also ordered to share in paying $5,000 in restitution with Hafford.

Assistant District Attorney Joshua Robbins told the court Wednesday that restitution for the stolen items could have been as high as $15,000, but the state and defendants settled on the $5,000 that they could prove.

Robbins said the victim was satisfied with the plea agreement but not interested in attending the sentence hearing.
