LEWISTON — The Stanton Bird Club of Lewiston and Auburn has three bird walks planned for July that will explore a variety of local habitats along the Androscoggin River, Thorncrag and Papermill Trails.
All walks will all take place from 8 to 11 a.m. Guided bird walks take place every other Wednesday. In July, they will be held July 6 and 20, and birders may meet to carpool at the Promenade Mall parking lot near Staples, 855 Lisbon St.
Birders will look for breeding birds on the newest section of the Androscoggin River Trail during a guided walk on Wednesday, July 6, in Lisbon.
Summertime birds will entertain the birders when they visit the Papermill Trail Saturday, July 16. The trail is gentle, paved and shaded, and it follows a woodland stream.
Birders will look for resident birds along over four miles of trails during a guided hike on Wednesday, July 20, at the at the Thorncrag Nature Sanctuary in Lewiston. The Stanton Bird Club manages this trail along with the Woodbury Nature Sanctuary in Monmouth and Litchfield.
Trip leaders Stan and Joan DeOrsey will identify and comment on birds they see and hear, and everyone will point out birds they notice. They may be contacted at 207-406-4741 or by [email protected] with questions.
Trips are free and open to the public. Those attending should bring binoculars and appropriate clothing.
