AUBURN – The Mr. Nick’s Blues Mafia band will play Sunday, Sept. 19, at the Midnight Blues club at 34 Court St. New Hampshire native Nick David fronts this blues act.

A mix of soul and grit, he sings from deep inside and his unorthodox approach to the harmonica has been described as “from the hip.”

David has shared the stage with such international notables as Tommy Castro, Luther “Guitar Jr.” Johnson, Curtis Salgado and Tab Benoit. He spent a year in Sweet Roy Jones’ Unlimited Blues Band and played all the harmonica on Jones’ 1996 release “Qualified to Sing the Blues.” David is also featured on the Philly-based hip-hop/funk/blues act Princes of Babylon’s 2002 release “Morphology,” as well as on Boston’s own Evan Goodrow Band’s 2002 release “Gettup.”

Mr. Nick’s Blues Mafia will perform as part of the Midnight Blues club’s Sunday Night Blues Series. Tickets are $8. Doors open at 5 p.m. for dinner and drinks; a ticket stub is good for $3 off any entree night of show. Shows run from 7 to 10 p.m. People need to call ahead for reservations. Call 783-9600.
