WAYNE — The Cary Library’s Annual Silent Auction begins Thursday, Aug. 4, with an informal opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Williams House, 14 Old Winthrop Road. The auction will run through Saturday, Aug. 13.

All proceeds benefit the library.

Handcrafted items, donated furniture, glassware, needlework, framed art and vintage attic treasures will be on display. There will also be quilted pieces, handcrafted jewelry and children’s items. Items up for bid may be viewed at www.cary-memorial.lib.me.us.

Chris Cushman of Androscoggin Wooden Boatworks donated a classic plywood dinghy in honor of his niece Heather Black, who recently passed away. Proceeds will benefit the Heather Black Children’s Programming Fund set up by the library.

The auction will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, the day of the Cary Festival and lobster roll lunch. The library’s 5K is also that day. Bidding closes at noon on Saturday, Aug. 13.
