AUBURN — A woman was stabbed multiple times at her home at 27 Clover Lane on Tuesday night by the man she lives with, police said.
Witnesses said the woman’s clothes were torn off by ambulance personnel trying to locate her stab wounds. She was rushed to Central Maine Medical Center for treatment for serious injuries.
According to witnesses, the man chased her out of the house with a long kitchen knife in his hand yelling, “I’m gonna kill you!”
Witnesses said both of them were covered in blood and several men from neighboring houses tackled the man on the front lawn of the home across the street and held him until police arrived.
Auburn Police Lt. Scott Watkins said it was a domestic situation.
The man was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston for evaluation. Details about any charges were not released Tuesday night.
Witnesses said a boy was there during the attack and was later taken by a Department of Health and Human Services employee after being interviewed by the police.
According to neighbors, the family moved into the house two or three weeks ago.
“This never happens here — this is a quiet neighborhood,” one woman said.
