PORTLAND — The Maine Heritage Policy Center has announced that college undergraduate Jacob Posik of Turner was the third-place winner of the 2016 Milton Friedman Essay Contest.
The contest was open to high school and college students, who had to write an essay detailing why educational choice is important and how it would benefit students in Maine.
Dr. Milton Friedman was a Nobel Laureate who was widely recognized as one of the most influential economists of the last century and the father of the modern educational choice movement.
Other winners include Joshua Durgin of Cornish, an undergraduate student, and Lilly Furrow of Bangor, a 10th-grade student.
The top three essays will be published on The Maine Wire, the center’s online news publication.
