LEWISTON — Jonathan Davis will serve as guest organist at a concert at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, 122 Ash St.
Davis is the director of music ministries at Saint Francis by the Sea Catholic Church on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
A native of Massachusetts, he has served churches in Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and California before settling in South Carolina, where he has lived for 21 years.
Davis began his organ studies under Normand A. Gingras at Saint Anne Shrine in Fall River, Massachusetts, and S. Deane Place in Boston before attending the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, studying under Yuko Hayashi. He has had several opportunities to perform with symphony orchestras on both coasts, and is a composer of sacred music for orchestras and choruses, church choirs and organ.
The concert is free and open the public. Donations to restore the Casavant organ will be accepted.
