NORWAY — The friends and members of the Second Congregational Church, UCC, are sorting, cleaning and pricing items for their 17th annual Tent-N-Treasures Yard Sale.

The sale is not just about fundraising — it is also about community, mission and recycling. The funds not only allow the church to open its doors to groups like Alcoholics Anonymous, Girl Scouts, Senior Exercise, Free Supper, Christmastide Concerts and Children’s Theater, it also provides the opportunity for families to purchase items at reduced prices and it definitely recycles unwanted items into treasures.

From books to toys, an antique sewing machine to a rocking sofa, linens to baskets, and tools to trinkets, the items for sale will be clean and in working order.

The church is seeking volunteers to assist with set up in the morning of Thursday, Aug. 25, and all day Friday, Aug. 26. Those interested in volunteering for any amount of time may contact 207-743-2290.

The rain-or-shine sale, under 10 tents, will fill the entire church parking lot to overflowing. There will be no “early birds” or “previews” allowed before the sale, which runs from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, on Main Street. Hot dogs and soda will be on sale after 10:30 a.m.

The revenue from the yard sale will used to support the many missions of the Second Congregational Church, United Church of Christ.
