It’s about time for real welfare reform in Maine. Thank you, Sen. Eric Brakey, for making it happen.
I read recently in the Sun Journal about the new welfare reform law going into effect, which prohibits the purchase of alcohol, cigarettes and lottery tickets with Maine welfare dollars. These purchases should never have been allowed in the first place, but for years the Maine Legislature wasn’t willing to address it.
Thankfully, Brakey ran for Maine Senate two years ago and promised to fight for welfare reform, including banning the purchase of alcohol, cigarettes and lottery tickets with Maine welfare dollars. As chairman of the Health and Human Services Committee, he made it happen. Promises made. Promises kept.
As our state senator for New Gloucester, Auburn, Poland, Minot and Mechanic Falls, Brakey gets the job done. I am proudly voting to re-elect Sen. Eric Brakey this November.
