1928 – 2016

HERNANDO, Miss. — Wilma J. Gallagher, 88, passed away on Friday, Aug. 12, at home with her family by her side. She went home to be with the Lord.

Wilma was born on May 25, 1928, in Hawk Junction, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Harold and Laura Staniland. She worked throughout her career as a nurse, but much of her career she assisted her husband in his veterinary practices.

She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 67 years, Dr. John Gallagher; her son, Jim Gallagher of North Carolina; daughters, Susan Gallagher Annear of North Carolina, Laura and husband, Jim Stapleton, of North Carolina, and Marti and husband, Louis Turgeon, of Mississippi; six beloved grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Brenda Gonya; and grandson, Benjamin Bunton.
