LEWISTON — The nonprofit New Ventures Maine is offering a free “Budgeting Basics” workshop from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Aug. 30, at the University of Southern Maine Lewiston-Auburn College.

Participants will learn about the basic components for building a budget in this two-hour workshop.

Workshop will discuss money tracking, goal setting, challenges, ways to reduce expenses, and how understanding one’s overall financial situation can be helpful in creating a budget that works.

Red Sox vs. Tampa Bay Rays trip

LISBON — The Lisbon Recreation Department and Sunshine Hill Seniors are hosting a trip to Fenway Park to see the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday, Aug. 31.

The game is against the Tampa Bay Rays and the tickets are for Section 87. It begins at 1:30 p.m., but the bus will arrive in Boston around 11:30 a.m. to give attendees the chance to eat lunch outside or inside the ball park, and to watch batting practice.

The trip is open to any age, but children 17 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Fans 14 and younger will receive a Wally piggy bank and have the chance to run the bases after the game.

Cost is $88 and includes ticket and coach transportation. Tickets are limited, and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

AUBURN — The High Street Congregational Church Food Pantry has ongoing needs for the following items: peanut butter, canned vegetables, soup, canned pasta, canned meats, canned fruit, dry cereal, baking items, soup, crackers and toilet paper.

Cribbage League begins Sept. 1

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens will start their Cribbage League on Thursday, Sept. 1.

All participants must be 50 years or older and members of the LSC. Membership costs $10 annually.
