1937 – 2016
AUBURN — Gerald L. Turcotte, 79, passed away peacefully Saturday, Aug. 27, at the Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice with his wife and family by his side.
He was born in Lewiston on Jan. 26, 1937, the son of the late Lucien and Henrietta (Boisvert) Turcotte. Gerald lived in Lewiston-Auburn his entire life and was a parishioner of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, regularly attending Mass at Sacred Heart Church.
He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1955. On Aug. 16, 1958, he married the love of his life, Patricia (Fuller), and they shared a loving marriage of 58 years. He joined the Army Reserve 76th Division and stayed for 23 years.
He worked as an auto parts salesman for the Motor Supply Co. and for Lewiston Public Works in the auto parts department for the last 16 years, prior to his retirement.
Gerald had many passions, including going to fairs, horses, camping and visiting Bar Harbor, and he often shared these times with his children and grandchildren. His grandchildren called him “Coach Pepe” because he chauffeured them to and attended their sporting events. He was known to have a very contagious smile and was well-known all around town. Family was his No. 1 priority.
He is survived by his wife; his daughter, Lisa (Turcotte) Gwarjanski and her husband, Stephen Gwarjanski; his son, Stephen, and his wife, Jacqueline Turcotte; his sister, Francine deGuzman; his brother, Lawrence Turcotte; his four grandchildren, Heather, Kimberly, Andrew and Amanda; and his three great-grandchildren, Eleanor, Miles and Reid.
He was predeceased by his parents.
The family would like to thank the staff at Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice for their care and support.
Friends and family are invited to share their memories and offer their condolences by visiting Gerald’s online guest book at www.thefortingroupauburn.com.
