1953 – 2016

LEWISTON — Leslie W. Parker, 62, passed from this life due to medical complications at St. Mary’s ICU on Friday, Sept. 2, with her loving husband by her side.

She was born Dec. 30, 1953, in Culver City, Calif., to Robert and Dorothy Warner. Growing up, her family moved to New Jersey before later settling in Maine, where she graduated top of her class from Sanford High School. She continued her education at the University of Maine at Portland-Gorham (now USM), graduating with honors.

Leslie began her teaching career in Sanford before marrying Mike and moving to the Lewiston-Auburn area. She continued teaching there for 34 years at Fairview Elementary. Upon retiring, Leslie continued to be active in local schools, including several years as a tutor at East Auburn.

Outside of school, she was dedicated to her work with Jaycee Women and as a member of Court Street Baptist Church, where she humbly served as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, choir member, church clerk, and spent countless hours cooking for a number of functions and gatherings over the years. Leslie was known far and wide for her cooking prowess, cake decorating, and her generous heart. She had an incredible work ethic and always strove to give above and beyond other’s expectations.

She will be sadly missed by Mike, her husband of 37 years; and their only son, Matthew, and his wife, Kelsey. Survivors also include Leslie’s three brothers, Donald and wife, Barbara, Gary, David and wife, Kathleen; and Mike’s family, Kay and Bob Chasse, Colleen and Bruce Rioux, Jim and Joan Parker; as well as nieces and nephews, former colleagues and many close friends.
