LEWISTON — Marguerite Evelyn (Robichaud) Roderick, 76, joined the Lord on Sunday, Sept. 4, at 2:35 p.m. at Marshwood Nursing Home in Lewiston, where she had resided for the past 18 months. Marguerite battled many illnesses over the past 38 years, which weakened her body, but never her spirit.
Marguerite was born Dec. 27, 1939, to Annie (Cyr) Robichaud and Elie Robichaud of Augusta. She spent her early years living in Biddeford, eventually returning to Augusta. She graduated from Cony High School in 1958. In 1960, she married her high school sweetheart, Richard Roderick. They celebrated their 56th anniversary this past July. Together they had two children, Thomas and Tammy. They lived and worked in Augusta, until the summer of 1974 when they moved to Ticonderoga, N.Y. Marguerite and Richard returned to Maine in 1989, settling in Lewiston.
Throughout her life, Marguerite worked as a secretary/administrative assistant in a variety of settings. Upon her return to Maine, Marguerite secured employment at Central Maine Medical Center where she worked in medical records, and her final position was as the executive secretary for the vice president of marketing, until her retirement.
In her free time, Marguerite enjoyed crocheting, sewing, cooking, playing cards, spending time with her daughter and granddaughters, and traveling with her husband, Richard. Over the years Marguerite enjoyed participating in various organizations, including the Daughters of Isabella and the Red Hat Society.
Marguerite leaves behind Richard, her husband of 56 years; her daughter, Tammy Levasseur and her husband, Daniel, of Lewiston; granddaughter, Courtnay Putnam of Monmouth; granddaughter, Catherine Putnam of Lewiston; three sisters, Florence Lahaye and her husband, Larry, of Augusta, Cecile Vachon and her husband, Roger, of Augusta, Joan Drouin and her husband, Arthur, of Farmingdale; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
