NORWAY — The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine has announced its October activities. All activities are free to those impacted by cancer.

The center is located at 199 Main St. in the Stephens Memorial Hospital Specialty Clinic building. Drop-in hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays.

Stampin’ Up with Kathy: 2 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4. Participants will make cards with instruction on materials provided.

Make a Felted Snowman: 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5. Nancy will bring the materials needed and lead the class on how to make a felted snowman.

Knitting and Crocheting: 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursdays. This month’s project is how to make a man’s hat. Materials will be provided or participants can bring their own soft yarn and round needle, size 7 or 8.

Coloring for Adults: 1 to 2 p.m. Thursdays. Coloring books and various markers are available.

Cards and Games: 1 to 2 p.m. Fridays. Various games are available or participants may bring one of their own to get a game started.

Yoga for Wellness: 8 to 9 a.m. Fridays. Either Kat Larsen and Sherri will teach the class, which will include breathing, movement and relaxing meditation. More information is available online. 

Chair Yoga: 2 to 3 p.m. Fridays. Sherri will lead the class in chair yoga. No mats are necessary, and chairs are provided.

Community Cancer Cut and Sew: 10 a.m. to noon Wednesdays, Oct. 12 and 26, and 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Sew Orchid Design, 316 Main St.

Guided Meditation Gathering: 1 to 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12. Guided meditation promotes relaxation, which will lower stress. Using imagination, along with the five senses, participants may find themselves in a tranquil state that is rejuvenating. There are no known risks associated with guided meditation. Susan Kane will lead the meditation.

Reiki 1: 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18. Reiki is intended to relieve stress and discomfort and to complement the medical treatments prescribed by a physician. Charlotte LaBelle of Teresia Reiki will be the instructor. Participants will learn to connect with themselves with this introduction to Reiki 1.

Crafting with Barbara: 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Sew Orchid Design, 316 Main St. Barbara Daigle will teach a series of non-sewing or beginner sewing crafts.

Pumpkin Carving at McLaughlin Gardens: 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19. The garden will provide pumpkins, stencils and tools to carve pumpkins. Participants will meet on the second floor of the house on Main Street in Paris. Pumpkins will displayed during the Jack O’Lantern Spectacular, then pumpkins may be taken home.

Free Reiki Clinic: 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Norway Town Office, 19 Danforth St. This is a free clinic for cancer patients in treatment, cancer survivors and their caregivers.
