According to the state energy office, the average cash price for heating oil on Monday was $3.62 a gallon.
That’s down 12 cents from a week ago and $1.09 from early July when heating oil prices peaked, but it’s still 92 cents higher than last year at this time.
The lowest average price was found in southwest Maine, while the highest prices were in central and eastern Maine.
The survey said that kerosene was averaging $4.33 a gallon on Monday, and propane was averaging $3.25 a gallon.
