LEWISTON — Members from the Dempsey Center, Central Maine Medical Center and local businesses recently placed memorial cards in the hospital’s Memory Mum garden to honor loved ones.

“The Memory Mums Project honors the memory of Amanda Dempsey and raises funds for the center that bears her family’s name,” said Woman’s Hospital Association President Sharon Poulin. Amanda Dempsey, the mother of Mary Dempsey and actor Patrick Dempsey, had multiple bouts with ovarian cancer, living with the disease for a number of years and becoming an inspiration for others coping with cancer. She passed away in March 2014.

Those wishing to honor someone by dedicating a mum can get order forms at the WHA Gift Shop in the Main Lobby of the hospital. Mums can also be dedicated online at www.cmmc.org/wha/mums.
