1936 – 2016

BRUNSWICK — Allan C. Frizzle Jr., 80, of Bowdoinham passed away Monday, Sept. 26, at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.

He was born Jan. 28, 1936, in Waterboro, the son of Allan C. and Olive E. (Thompson) Frizzle.

Allan was a member of the Knights of Pythias for more than 50 years, and a member of the Bowdoinham Fire Department for more than 50 years, 35 of those years as chief. He was also a Mason, was in the U.S. Army Reserve, and was involved in multiple services and boards in the town of Bowdoinham.

He began work at Prouts Gardens in Bowdoinham, then went on to work for Ralph Purington, Dodge Chevrolet, and later owned and operated Frizzle’s Mobil. He was last employed with the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Department.

Allan loved going camping, spending time with his grandchildren and following the Boston Red Sox.

He is survived by his wife, Maggie “Pop” Frizzle of Bowdoinham; his children, Sonia Moeller and husband, Joe, of Brunswick, Rebecca Ellis and husband, Rick, of Bowdoinham, Christine Frizzle and partner, Robbin Evans, of Topsham, Robert Frizzle and fiancée, Katherine Wiswell, of Bowdoinham, Arthur “Fudd” Frizzle and wife, Deborah, of Bowdoinham, Marilynn Grizkewitsch and husband, Michail, of Richmond; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a brother, Gordon Frizzle and wife, Akemi, of Bowdoinham.

He was predeceased by his parents, Allan and Olive; and a nephew, Gary.
