LEWISTON — Photographs by Alana Ranney and members of the Maine Professional Photographers Association are on display through the end of October in Central Maine Medical Center’s main lobby hallway at the 60 High St. entrance.

A member of the Maine Professional Photographers Association since 2011, Ranney started photographing the world around her after taking a photography class in high school in the mid-1980s. She said fall is one of her favorite times to photograph because of the stunning autumn colors, and she is always looking for patterns, color and the right lighting. She enjoys photographing old antique cars and trucks, barns, abandoned homes, quaint Maine towns, lighthouses, waterfalls, scenic vistas, and all things unique to Maine.

The photographs from the association represent works from the second annual heART of Photography Exhibit and Competition, which garnered entries from association members, local area camera clubs and other associations from inside and outside Maine. Entries were judged by master photographer Steve Bedell.

Winner of the competition was Laura Zamfirescu for her photo “Hummingbird.”

The artwork on display may be purchased through the Woman’s Hospital Association Gift Shop, located adjacent to the main lobby. A percentage of sales proceeds benefits CMMC.
