AUBURN – Mechanic Savings Bank, with offices in Auburn, Lewiston and Windham, announces that John Kannegieser has been appointed to the position of chairman of the board of directors. The bank also announces that Jon Oxman has been appointed vice chairman.

Kannegieser has been involved with Mechanics Saving Bank since 1989, having served as its president and CEO from 1989-1999, and as a member of the board of directors from 1999 to 2008.

He is a past president and CEO of Key Bank of Central Maine (formerly Depositors Trust Company), where he also served as a director, chairman of the loan committee, chairman of the investment committee, director of human resources and regional vice president.

He is a former member of the board of directors at Advocates for Children and the Norlands Living History Center. He was also a founding board member of the Maine Music Society and the Boys and Girls Club of Lewiston/Auburn.

He earned an A.B. degree from Harvard College in 1957. He currently lives in Winthrop and Bar Harbor with his wife.

Jon Oxman has been involved in Mechanics Saving Bank for more than 30 years, having served as a corporator from 1978 to 1984, and as a member of the board of directors from 1984 to 2008.

Oxman is the managing partner of Linnell, Choate and Webber, LLP, Attorneys. He is a member of the Maine Trial Lawyers Association, Maine Bar Association and the Androscoggin County Bar Association. He is a member of the board of L/A Arts, the chair of the Community Advisory Council of USM’s Lewiston-Auburn College, and chairman of the board of the Maine Lawyers Client Protection Fund. He also serves as regional chairman of the Tufts University Alumni Admissions Program.

He earned his Juris Doctor law degree from Boston College Law School, and holds a bachelor of arts degree from Tufts University. He lives in Auburn with his wife.
