AUBURN — Wicked Good Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, in the First Universalist Church of Auburn’s vestry, at 169 Pleasant St.

The performance will include the band’s usual brand of Maine-humor-laced songs and comedic interplay. There will be a cash bar and light refreshments throughout the event.

The band’s Facebook page describes the band this way: “The Wicked Good Band has been insulting Maine audiences since its pathetic beginnings as a bunch of misfits and weirdos at Deering High School. Somehow it has managed to perform in many Maine counties and exotic places like the Norm Festival.”

The performance is part of the Concerts for a Cause series, recently started to bring special concerts to the community while raising money for area charities. The concerts are produced by Dave Rowe, local musician and church choir director, with help from a committee of church members.

Proceeds from the band’s appearance at the church will be used to support the church’s outreach and concert series, and will also directly benefit Veterans Inc.

“With Veterans Day coming up in November, we thought it was a natural fit to partner with a veterans organization,” Rowe said. “Veterans Inc. is the largest provider of support services to veterans in New England. You don’t have to look hard in our communities to see veterans in need — many are suffering depression, PTSD and homelessness. It’s my sincere hope that the funds raised at this wonderful concert help many of our veterans get the support they need to live fulfilling lives.”
