FARMINGTON — fcTourism, formerly the Franklin County Tourism Network, aims to re-energize the area’s tourism efforts by hosting a Rural Destination Development Summit from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at the Fairbanks School Meeting House.

The Rural Destination Development Summit provides an opportunity for employees in lodging, restaurants, attractions, guide services, shop owners, chamber directors, business associations, town managers and anyone interested in tourism to gather and form relationships to strengthen the tourism industries in surrounding communities.

The event will feature a presentation from Donna Moreland, destination tourism specialist from the Maine Office of Tourism. Moreland will emphasize the importance of expanding on the infrastructure surrounding tourism destinations.

The event is free but those planning to attend should register online at www.fctourism.eventbrite.com. For more information, call the Greater Franklin Development Council at 207-778-5887.
