Wabanaki workshop on Nov. 19

AUGUSTA — The Maine-Wabanaki REACH will present a free ally workshop from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19.

It’s for non-Native people to reflect on the shared history and future with Native Americans. It includes a brief history of U.S. government relationships with Native Americans, as well as awareness of white privilege and ally responsibilities.

SeniorsPlus to discuss fraud, scams 

FARMINGTON — SeniorsPlus will offer the AARP’s Fraud & Scam Awareness: How to Protect Yourself class from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at the Franklin County satellite office of SeniorsPlus at 218 Fairbanks Road.

Instructor Valerie Cole, a licensed social worker from SeniorsPlus, will discuss how scams and identity theft rob millions of Americans each year and how creative and persistent scammers can be.

In this workshop, attendees will learn to recognize common scams and what they can do to avoid them and protect themselves.

Speed Stacking for World Record Day

NORWAY — The Norway Memorial Library will hold a Speed Stacking Challenge from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, in the children’s department as part of the Guinness World Records Day Stack Up Challenge.

Stacking is an amazing sport of fitness, concentration and quickness. No experience is needed to participate. Sherri Otterson, speed-stacking teacher, will lead this event, which is free and open to the public.

Congregational Church rummage sale 

WILTON — There will be a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at Wilton Congregational Church, 386 Main St.

Proceeds will benefit the church’s organ fund.

Clothing, household goods and other items are being accepted.

Benefit for Carthage resident

CARTHAGE — There will be a benefit for Lisa Robertson, recently diagnosed with colon cancer, Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Carthage Town Office.

There will be a Chinese auction, raffles, a bake sale and a potluck supper.

The building will open at 11 a.m. for the bake sale, Chinese auction and raffle tickets. Supper will be held from 5 p.m. until sold out. Take-out will be available.

Organizers are seeking donations for the auction.
