1943 – 2016

LEWISTON — Brian C. French, 72, of Mechanic Falls passed away Monday, Nov. 14.

He was born in Lewiston on Dec. 25, 1943, son of James and Shirley (Gammon) French. He graduated from Mechanic Falls High School in 1961. Brian was in banking for 29 years, and then worked as a controller for Holden Refrigeration from 1982-1991. He later worked as a controller for Schooner Estates from 1991-2010. He was also a notary public.

He married Gloria Harriman on May 22, 1988. He enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing, camping and music, especially bluegrass. He was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. Brian loved history, especially Native American.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria, of Mechanic Falls; his children, Scott of Poland, Nancy of Lewiston, Jessica of Greene, Dennis of Auburn, Susan Lajoie of Lewiston, and George Campbell and his wife, Tina, of Turner; seven grandchildren, Laurie of Poland, Daniel J. of Minot, Katherine of Lewiston, Dylan of Portland, Cullen of Bangor, Brittney of Tampa, Fla., and Taylor of Auburn; two great-grandchildren, James and Joshua; a sister, Linda French, of Rochester, N.H.; nephew, Michael; niece, Karen; and the mother of his children, Carole French.

Brian was predeceased by his son, Thomas James.
