AUGUSTA — Lithgow Public Library and the Unitarian Universalist Community Church are partnering to bring author Ron Chase to the library on Tuesday, Dec. 6.

The presentation is at 6 p.m. in the Community Room. It is free and open to the public.

Chase is the author of “The Great Mars Hill Bank Robbery.” The book profiles the real-life adventure story of a Vietnam War hero who more than four decades ago robbed the Northern National Bank in Mars Hill. Patterson escaped with $110,000, which at the time was the largest bank robbery to ever occur in the state of Maine. Patterson ran from the law for seven months — his travels took him to the West Coast and to Europe before he was eventually caught.

Chase is a former Registered Maine Guide and IRS accountant, and was active in the Appalachian Mountain Club as Canoe chair and a trip leader. He’s a freelance writer and a regular contributor to newspapers and magazines. He and his wife Nancy co-wrote “Mountains for Mortals: New England: Scenic Summits for Hikers.” He lives in Topsham.

The library is at 45 Winthrop St.
