1924 – 2016

WILTON — Glendon Charles Swett, 92, of Wilton passed away at his home on Tuesday, Dec. 6.

He was born Nov. 30, 1924, in North Jay to John and Mildred (Riggs) Swett. Glendon attended school at Lake School in North Jay and graduated from Jay High School in 1943. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. On Oct. 22, 1949, he married Shereen Nile.

Glendon worked at Norwock Shoe and G.H. Bass. He was a great shoe man and could build a shoe from start to finish. He also loved to go camping, fishing, hunting, gardening and bowling.

The family would like to thank the home care aides who took care of Glendon.

Glendon is survived by his two sons, Scott and his wife, Celeste, and Timothy and his wife, Darcy; three daughters, Cathy and her husband, Bruce, Cheryl and her husband, Frank, and Jill and her husband, Tony; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; his brother, Durwood and his wife, Maxine; and his brother-in-law, Clyde Nile and his wife, Ann.

He was predeceased by his wife, Shereen, of 55 years; his daughter, Glenda Webber; his parents and parents-in-law; his brother, Lawriston and his wife, Gladys; two sisters, Roberta Thurston, and Nathalie Jordan and her husband, Shine.
