LEWISTON – Susan Olson Gwozdz, M.S., the executive director of WorkMed, rehabilitation programs, and prevention and wellness services at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, recently became a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the nation’s leading professional society for health care leaders.

Fellow status represents achievement of the highest standard of professional development. To obtain it, candidates pass a comprehensive examination, meet academic and experiential criteria, earn continuing education credits, and demonstrate professional/community involvement.

Gwozdz has more than 25 years of experience in the development and management of occupational medicine, safety, workers compensation, rehabilitation, and prevention and wellness programs. She has been in a leadership position at the Sisters of Charity Health System since 2000. Prior to that, she served as assistant vice president for health and productivity programs for UnumProvident, where she received two C. Everett Koop health awards.

Gwozdz holds a master’s degree in public health from the University of Massachusetts and has served as a visiting scholar at the Harvard School of Public Health’s Occupational Health Program. She is a graduate of the executive program in health policy and management at the Muskie Institute of Public Policy at the University of Southern Maine.
