Ice skating opens in Rumford
RUMFORD — Ice skating at the Hosmer Field rink is now open.
Rumford Parks Superintendent Mike Mills said that during school vacation, skating hours will be from noon to 8 p.m. However, the rink will be closed Monday, Dec. 26, along with New Year’s Day, Sunday, Jan. 1, and Monday, Jan. 2.
Skating shack hours will be from 2:30 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, 2:30 to 9 p.m. Fridays, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays. The sake will be closed Monday through Wednesday, but there will be open skating.
When Rumford Parks is not doing maintenance, skating is permitted anytime after 11 a.m.

Masons’ New Year’s Eve dance
BUCKFIELD — A New Year’s Eve dance will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Dec. 31, at the Masonic Hall, 5 High St.
Music will be performed by the Jones Dance Band.
Cost is $10 for adults. The counter will be open.
AMVETS New Year’s Eve
JAY — AMVETS Post 33 will have music by Cowboy Billy and Malinda Liberty from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. New Year’s Eve, Saturday, Dec. 31, on Main Street.
There is cover charge.

Sabattus Seniors cancel meeting
SABATTUS — Due to illnesses of members, the Sabattus Seniors meeting set for Jan. 5 has been cancelled.
The Seniors will meet Thursday, Feb. 2, for a roast pork meal. Reservations are required by Thursday, Jan. 19, by contacting 207-375-4037.

Coat Room to warm the Hills
OXFORD — The Coat Room will be open for the season from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays in Oxford Plaza Mall.
A program of RightStart in Norway, the Coat Room provides free coats to the community. Family members should come together for one coat, hat, pair of gloves and ski pants per person, based on availability. Applications for coats are not necessary.
Donations of coats of all sizes may be taken to the Coat Closet or to Norway Laundry on Paris Street in Norway.
Club announces Christmas raffle winner
WILTON — Wilton Fish & Game Association announces that Olen Boulette of Farmington is the winner of its Christmas raffle, a Windham Weaponry .308 Hunter Model rifle.
Members and guests recently filled the clubhouse for an old-fashioned potluck. There was excitement in the air as the drum with tickets was rolled, and Santa came to town for Olen.
There was a short business meeting, where nominations were made for the board of directors.
The annual Michael J. Rowe Ice Fishing Derby will be held on Maine’s Free Family Fishing Weekend on Saturday, Feb. 18.
Club meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. on the third Sunday of each month at the clubhouse. New members are welcome.
