LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens held the annual Christmas party on Dec. 5 with 107 members attending. Members were entertained with piano music and Christmas videos by Mike McCarthy. Santa made an appearance and passed out gifts and prizes; the $100 winner was Piper Logan-Charpentier, $75, Janice Jones; and $50, Ghyslaine Bureau.

The Seniors collected Christmas donations of hats, mittens and unwrapped toys, which were given to Safe Voices on Dec. 21.

The Seniors will meet for a fried chicken luncheon and meeting at noon on Monday, Jan. 9. Tickets for the luncheon can be purchased in the office. Bingo will be played after the meeting.

At the February meeting, the Seniors will crown the Valentine King and Queen on Monday, Feb. 6. Entertainment will follow.

The Lewiston Senior Citizens have several upcoming trips planned for 2017. Those interested in any trip should sign up early. Information about the trips may be obtained by contacting 207-784-0302 or 207-345-9569.

Sugar Party: March 28 at Cabane a Pierre, Frampton, Quebec.  The price is $84 and includes bus transportation, lunch, entertainment, maple syrup demonstrations, shopping and tips. The registration deadline is March 7.

Cherry Blossom Trip: April 6 to 12 in Washington D.C. The trip will includes six nights (four consecutive nights in Washington D.C.), six breakfasts, four dinners, two guided tours of Washington, an evening memorial and monument tour, and admission to George Washington’s Mt. Vernon estate and garden. The trip cost is $699 per person for double occupancy. A deposit of $75 per person is required upon sign up.

New York City and the Statue of Liberty: May 5 to 9 in New York City. The trip will include four nights’ lodging, eight meals, a guided tour of New York City, Central Park, Rockefeller Center, Times Square, Wall Street and more, A visit to the National 9/11 Museum and Memorial, and a ferry ride to Ellis Island and Liberty Island. The cost of the trip is $629 per person for double occupancy. A deposit of $75 per person is required upon sign up.

America’s Cowboy Country: Sept. 15 to 22. This trip will be eight days’ lodging, seven breakfasts, one lunch and three dinners. From Jackson Hole, Wyoming, to South Dakota, the highlights are a relaxing wildlife float trip on the Snake River, visits to the Grand Tetons, Yellowstone National Park, Buffalo Bill Center of the West, Deadwood, Crazy Horse Memorial, Mt. Rushmore and the Badlands National Park, a chuck wagon ride and dinner and more. A $250 deposit will be due upon sign up.

New Orleans: Oct. 27 to Nov. 6. Trip includes 10 nights’ lodging (including four consecutive nights in New Orleans) 10 breakfasts, eight dinners, a guided tour of the Louisiana Plantation and French Quarter, a riverboat ride on the Mississippi River, a guided tour of New Orleans, National World War II Museum and more. Cost is $989 per person for a double occupancy. A $75 deposit per person is due upon sign up. 

Christmas Tour at the White Mountain Resort: Nov. 29 to Dec. 1. This annual trip includes two nights’ lodging, five meals, three Christmas shows, and more. This bus trip sells out very early. A deposit of $50 is required to reserve a seat.
