ORLANDO, Fla. — Holman Gilbert Beck Jr., formerly of Lewiston and Benton, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, at Hospice of the Comforter in Orlando, with family and friends nearby, following a long illness from cancer.

Born in Lewiston, Jan. 7, 1951, he was the son of Holman and Virginia (Kittila) Beck Sr. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1969, where he played football. Holman graduated from the University of Maine with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.

He worked at Kleinschmidt and Dutting in Pittsfield earlier in his career. He later moved to Orlando, Fla., to work at Siemens as an electrical engineer, helping to design and install gas turbine power plants all over the world.

Family and friends knew Holman by his childhood nickname “Bumbo.” Holman’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, giving generously to his many charities and sharing of his time and knowledge with others. A framed saying on his bookcase read, “Work joyfully knowing that right thoughts and right efforts will inevitably bring about right results.”

He will be greatly missed by his best friend, Faye Graffius; and family, friends and co-workers at Siemens. He is survived by three sisters, Tootie Beck Goudreau and husband, Thomas, Barbara Beck Marcotte and husband, Norm, and Doreen Beck-Poland and partner, Sherry; two brothers, William Beck and Timothy Beck and wife, Marcy; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother, Virginia; father, Holman Beck Sr.; and sister, Patricia Clements.
