AUBURN – The Auburn-Lewiston YMCA announces that Dave Thompson has joined the staff as associate director. His primary focus will be financial development with an emphasis on fundraising through annual support, endowments and capital campaigns.

For the past 11 years Thompson held positions of executive director, capital campaign Manager and CEO of the Cumberland County YMCA, the largest YMCA in Maine. Under his leadership the annual operating budget grew from $2.5 million to $6 million while he oversaw more than 300 employees and 15,000 members at five locations in Cumberland County. During his tenure membership more than tripled, contributions doubled and three new facilities were opened.

Prior to going into YMCA work, Thompson held various positions in the banking industry for nearly 20 years. He graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a degree in business management and currently lives in Yarmouth with his wife, Paula. They have three grown children, Holly, Noel and Peter. Thompson is also an active board member of The Project for Supported Living and STRIVE, programs that help young adults with disabilities live a fruitful life.
