Prices for No. 2 heating oil and kerosene continued to fall this week, with each of the commodities losing 4 cents on their retail price.

A statewide survey of heating fuel dealers conducted Wednesday found the average price of No. 2 at $2.34 per gallon. While that’s down from last week’s average by 4 cents, it’s 39 cents more than oil cost last year at this time.

Kerosene was averaging $2.75 per gallon. That’s 51 cents higher than last year.

Propane rose by 4 cents during the week, hitting a statewide average of $2.30 per gallon for the gas when purchased in bulk for home heating applications.

Propane was selling for 29 cents more than it did last year at this time.

The state’s Office of Energy Independence and Security conducts the home heating fuels survey each week during the heating season, which runs from October through March.
