OXFORD – Peter N. Connell, president and chief executive officer of Oxford Homes Inc., was recently appointed to a two-year term on the Citizen Trade Policy Commission by Maine Senate President Beverly C. Daggett. Connell is the manufacturing member representing Maine-based businesses with 25 or more employees.
The commission has been established to assess and monitor the legal and economic effects of trade agreements on state and local laws and the business environment. It provides a mechanism for citizens and legislators to voice concerns and to make policy recommendations designed to protect Maine’s jobs, business environment and laws from any negative impact of trade agreements.
“Because of the industry I’m in and the area I come from, I have some firsthand experience on the impact of foreign trade. I look very much forward to serving with a very distinguished group of senators, representatives and public members,” Connell said.
Connell has also served on the Manufactured Housing Board of Maine since 1992 and is currently the vice chairman representing manufacturers.
