AUBURN – Cheerleading coaches Deneka and Tiffany Fortier have opened Fortier Family Cheer Center at 664 Washington St.

The sisters will host an open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 17. Cheerleaders, parents and coaches are invited to view the facility and take part in the day’s activities. They will be taking registrations for Planet Cheer All-Stars, a competitive all-star cheerleading travel team, as well as hosting interactive demonstrations including tumbling, stunting and dancing. For every all-star registration they receive, they will donate $1 to the American Diabetes Association. There will be door prizes and refreshments.

The Fortiers have been coaching cheerleaders in the local area for more than 10 years. Deneka Fortier is the current Lewiston High School competition cheering coach. They are two-time defending state champions. She is the recipient of the Auburn/Lewiston Sports Hall of Fame 2003 President’s Award and was selected as the 2004 KVAC Coach of the Year. Tiffany Fortier coaches the Poland Regional High School cheerleaders, where she led the Knights to the first state championship in the school’s history.

The cheer gym services established teams including tumbling, stunt and cheer technique classes.
