AUBURN – Sharon Foerster has been promoted to Director of Elder Independence of Maine. She will provide leadership and direction to the Elder Independence of Maine Division of SeniorsPlus. Prior to her promotion, she was consumer services manager.

“I’m very pleased to have the opportunity to work with EIM staff, consumers and providers to promote the quality of Home Care Coordination provided to EIM consumers, older people and adults with disabilities throughout the state of Maine,” she said.

Foerster holds a master’ degree in social work from Boston University and although she is licensed to practice independently, her experience with older individuals and families in long-term health care evolved into work in policy and program issues. She has completed coursework at Simmons College in the social work doctoral program with special interest in the interplay of chronic health problems and level of mood.

Foerster resides in Auburn with her husband.

Elder Independence of Maine is the home care coordination agency for the state of Maine and is a division of SeniorsPlus, the designated Area Agency on Aging for Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford counties.
